One of the most common issues with the Marshall Amp foot switch is the failure of the 6 pin inline din plug and the connecting wires. It is critical that before attaching the wires a continuity test is performed on each wire (there are 7 but only 6 are used) of the connecting cable to ensure it is not broken inside the cable. This test can be done with any basic test meter. If there is a break the cable has a 7th unused wire (brown) which if it tests ok can be used in place of another.
It appears to be a better constructed plug than the Mode Electronics plug. I ordered two from a local company and replaced the Mode Electronics plug. They are indeed very rugged and well constructed.
Fyi - I had bought a new footswitch as a backup a few months back and noticed that the latency going from clean to OD is much improved (nonexistent) on the newer footswitch.... I now use my old footswitch as a backup.
